Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi secured a historic landslide victory in the February 8 parliamentary elections, with the Liberal Democratic Party winning a two-thirds supermajority in the lower house. The LDP won 316 of 465 seats, its strongest result since 1955, giving Takaichi strong political power.
