U.S. has given ‘permission’ to India to accept Russian oil, says Treasury Secretary Bessent

The United States has temporarily allowed India to purchase Russian oil already stranded at sea to ease short‐term global supply pressures amid the ongoing West Asia conflict. U.S. officials say the 30‐day waiver is a stop‐gap measure to stabilise prices and will not provide significant financial benefit to Moscow, while reaffirming India as a key energy partner.
